Germany moulder Fr?hlich grows closure output in Czech Republic

Fr?hlich Czech Plast is strengthening its non-automotive business.

German plastics processor Fr?hlich Plastics is carrying out further capacity expansion after relocating its container cap and closure production to a new plant at Písek in the south west of the Czech Republic.

Fr?hlich Czech Plast s.r.o., a Czech offshoot of the producer mainly of moulded automotive components and container caps based in Bad Lauterberg, Germany, is strengthening its non-automotive business.

Last year, the group acquired the closure moulding assets of troubled German CD and DVD maker EDC GmbH. in Hanover and switched the machinery and plant from Germany to the new Písek facility. Earlier in 2017, over 15 million HDPE caps were produced for European and overseas customers in the food, medical technology and photo development segments.

Fr?hlich’s closures business is set to get established in the new Czech plant by the end of this year. The move is part of the family owned group’s strategic plan to strengthen and expand its non-automotive division and Písek unit offers ample moulding and logistics space for further growth.

“Together with existing customers, the group is working to further develop and expand its market position,” commented its chief executive Michael Fr?hlich late last year.

The German group produces a range of car components including fluid reservoirs and structural parts along with plastic items for the aerospace, electrical/electronic, packaging and medical technology sectors.

Apart from the Czech Republic, where it already had a plant at Písek since 2003, Fr?hlich operates other manufacturing units in Taicang, China and at Bad Lauterberg and Sollstedt in Germany.

It employs a 300-strong group workforce and runs nearly 60 injection moulding machines at its facilities. Fr?hlich has an overall annual turnover of around €30m. Customers include global names such as Continental, Tyco and Bosch.
